The recent and current ‘energy weather‘ is fiery, and as we know (yawn), that always amps up the Hissy Fit, Tantrum Yoga & Psychic Spew potential.

On a much more pleasant note …

Fire, Heart & Big Love.

There is also the connection between the element of Fire (and the recent fiery Full Moon in Leo and the Fire Trine portal) and its connections to Fire Qualities like generosity, hospitality, and graciousness; as well as the passionate Heart and Big Love and Anam Cara.

Plus, we’ve just passed Valentine’s Day, and some associate that holiday with love as well as romance.

This cocktail moves me to share these soulful, heart-stirring musings from the late, inspired poet-priest John O’Donohue, from his book Anam Cara, and some lovely images inspired by a just a few of the great Love+Muse stories.

“When love awakens in your life, in the night of your heart, it is like the dawn breaking within you.”

“Where before there was anonymity, now there is intimacy; where before there was fear, now there is courage; where before in your life there was awkwardness, now there is a rhythm of grace and gracefulness; where before you used to be jagged, now you are elegant and in rhythm with your self. When love awakens in your life, it is like a rebirth, a new beginning.”

“In everyone’s life, there is a great need for an anam cara, a soul friend. In this love, you are understood without mask or pretension. The superficial and functional lies and half-truths of social acquaintance fall away, you can be as you really are.”

O’Donohue continues with the poetic inspiration drawn from his own Celtic poet-vision:

“Love allows understanding to dawn, and understanding is precious. Where you are understood, you are at home. Understanding nourishes belonging. When you really feel understood, you feel free to release yourself into the trust and shelter of the other person’s soul.”

“This art of love discloses the special and sacred identity of the other person. Love is the only light that can truly read the secret signature of the other person’s individuality and soul.” ~ John O’Donohue, Anam Cara

Love as an art form, as an aspect of seeing and being seen; of presence and being present (or being seen and having your true presence reflected back to you, as the full Moon reflects back the brilliance of the Sun).

And knowing Love, as contrasted by the more empty simulation of love in a consumer culture, as belonging and feeling at home.

How beautiful and inspiring is that?

Is it any wonder that the heart and soul yearn for the experience of actual Love?

As O’Donohue mused — more than once — and that I and others have mused many times,

“When this spiritual path opens, you can bring an incredible generosity to the world and to the lives of others.”

That’s the point, or part of it anyway, of being the change and/or being the ‘medicine’ for these times (and living beings) much in need of it.
