“Mind can neither recognize nor create beauty. … Many people are so imprisoned in their minds that the beauty of nature does not really exist for them.”
~ Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now.
Here’s a short musing from notes I jotted during my morning reading this morning, when I read the above passage while revisiting The Power of Now (again) looking for something else.
It’s possible to see the concept of “anti-Christ” as the predominance of mind or intellect without the heart and full-sensory or whole perception.

Margaret Starbird shared that, by way of gematria (the ancient Kabbalistic tradition of connecting sacred passages with encoded sacred numbers), the “anti-Christ” alluded to “power without mercy” — the two were not one. It’s a similar concept.
We might also see it as left-brain without right-brain and heart, uber-Yang without Yin, or Masculine without Feminine.
With intellect unchecked by heart-body Wisdom, power without mercy, action without humaneness, we get the psychopathic or NarciPath and the cruelty and lack of humanity that comes from deep unconsciousness and a deeply wounded heart.
We see quite a bit of that around us these days, yes?

This shifts when we welcome home from exile that which has been exiled or suppressed, under-valued and under-recognized, and move into wholeness.
Most, if not all, spiritual traditions seem to aim at healing and re-unifying what has been ‘torn asunder’.
Practice, practice … and subtle activism, too.
Subtle Activism and the Fiery Phoenix topics are on my Muse-and-Write list, so stay tuned.

“beauty” … is ~alive~
cognition … which is limited, self-referencing and closed to it’s content,
– doesn’t allow for things to “vibrate”,
– doesn’t allow for things to “change” anytime,
– doesn’t allow for things to be more than that digital still images, that fixed~structured bits once captured.
(google showed for cognition: “the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses.”)
I wonder … how can neuronal networks … “vibrate”
… maybe when perception is open and present with what … JUST IS
… we allow … to see “this” … and then “that” … and “back” … and “more” … we allow perception to “change” … switching between the different neuronal networks … activating/illuminating the whole brain 🙂

also … “perceiving beauty” … HERE&NOW … which keeps one BEing really present, fascinated, immersed and ONE with IT for hours and on into eternity …
… is a rare thing … it seems …
… as we often drop so easily back into the auto-habits of cognition … to judge this and/or that … to comment this and/or that … to change this and/or that … to leave pure~presence to think about this and/or that
And compared to “perceived present beauty” … the minds “recognized stories and accompaning feelings of previous beauty perceptions” … seem to last only a few seconds or minutes … and fade away … as that replay is repetitive … not alive
… so often what we may feel as “beauty”, when looking e.g. at a picture … are memory (stories and feelings) replay of associated original “perceived beauty” experience(s), once … within us … recorded perceptions, and not anything which is present here and now.
If those feelings would be really present here and now, we should be able to look at the same picture for hours without any fading of those feelings of “beauty” …
I guess “perceiving real present alive beauty” continously … is similar to the state of “BEing in LOVE” … “nothing else matters” then 🙂
Have a beautiful day 🙂
