In the Spirit of the Season of Lights … stir the Light within you and shine brightly as a gift to all around you.
Ariakerou at Imado – Lighted House, by Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915). PD-US.
“I build a lighted house and therein dwell.”**
This is a musing on well-lit houses, inner (and outer) gardens, being refuge and/or refugee, among other things.
In his July esoteric astrology letter, Phillip Lindsay shared the above ‘keynote’ for the archetype of the moon-ruled sign of Cancer, along with other powerfully insightful and inspiring observations and reminders.
(Thank you, Phillip. Kindred-spirit readers, you’ll find the link to Phillip’s full article below — highly recommended inspiration!)
We’ve recently had this Cancerian wellspring stirred, as the Sun did its annual meander through Cancer, along with Mercury and Venus.
Beyond these few weeks, the invitations and deep wellsprings of this deeply feminine, Yin-Water archetype are vitally important for these turbulent times we’re living in.
The same could be said for the ‘greater angels’ of each of the archetypes, and may it be…

In the beginning was the Word …
The sound …
The vibration of the ultimate creativity.
If all is energy, and sound and vibration are creative, we become more and more aware of the power of the Word: thought, word, and all that shapes it within us.
My friend and kindred-collaborator Lee of the fantastically insightful and creative ShamaGaia blog has written a fine musing on the power of the Word, sound, and vibration for healing and creativity.
Have a look (and thanks, Leeby!).
Big Love, all.
Pythagoras of Samos ( 570 – 495 BC)
From prehistoric Shamans to the ancient civilisations of Summeria, Egypt, Greece, China, Tibet, India, South America and elsewhere, sound has been revered as a primary way of linking humans with their cosmology and for its ability to heal, transform and elevate, body mind and spirit. “The use of sound in such cultures was a highly developed sacred science.” (Goldman, 2012)
The Pythagorean schools of ancient Greece developed various kinds of sacred sound healing temples and practices from knowledge that they received in Egypt. Fundamental to such practices was a concept known as, “The Harmony of The Spheres,” or “Musica Universalis,” which determined that the ratios of heavenly bodies could be represented by the relationship between musical tones. While this development is widely acknowledged as one of the major roots of western science, it is important to note that Pythagoras, one of…

The Energies of Now are taking on more Fire, where we’ve had an ocean of Water in recent weeks, though the sensitive, watery, tidal essence of the Neptunian-Piscean is still very much in play.
That said, it’s good to note that Fire and Water create steam, or hydro-thermal baths, or boiling water, or doused passion, etc. … actually, and metaphorically speaking.
So lest we Go All Mars (Fire) and bubble over, or get too steamy (in less than helpful ways), or feel like there’s still a wet blanket on our energy and passion, here’s an Energies of Now update.
Fire and Water will continue to be foremost elements in the Energies of Now, so this is a timely reminder … and an Orienteering clue-guide as well.
What’s bubbling for (and in) you?
Read on, and see what stirs into your awareness.
Wishing you happy and wise navigating as we ready for a new season … and a new (astro and seasonal) year’s Vision Quest and Hero/ine’s Journey.

Or so we would hope, in any case.
We’re each on our very own Odyssey, and we’re on a collective Odyssey, too, in these wild and wily transformative times.

The Blesstival Wave Continues to Build…
In times of intense energy dynamics and epic shifts — for many, that’s pretty much right now — we can feel both catapulted out of our comfort zones, uprooted and unmoored, and stuck, as in Way not opening. At the same time.
A strange and confusing paradox, that, but it seems to go with this particular unmapped territory.
This and other stressors can stir up a seemingly mighty riptide of angst or funk, a.k.a. depression. Add the holidays or similar high-expectation times, and shake.
And yet sometimes the medicine for being off-kilter isn’t so much out there — thankfully, as we often have little to no control over what’s out there (yes, I learned that lesson the hard way!) — but rather the medicine is right at hand, as close as our own breath.

Happy Fifth Day of Christmas to you all, whether you celebrate Christmas or honor the Spirit of the Season in other ways.
As we near the threshold of the passing of this past calendar year and the dawn of a fresh new one, many of us can appreciate that feeling of starting a new year with a blend of hope and intention, mixed in with healthy doses of anxiety, uncertainty, overwhelm, and even sadness or grief.
I have no doubt that I and several other of my blog-o-sphere sisters and brothers will continue sharing what ‘good medicine’ comes into and through us to encourage and inspire (as we navigate that same mix of inspiration and uncertainty!).
And yet each of those individual sharings contributes to the greater ‘wave’.
So I’m glad to share an inspired and timely blog article from The Druid’s Garden, along with Laura Bruno’s intro-musing to her own reblog of this post.
You’ll find Laura’s message, and then the link to the reblog of ‘Making a Difference’.
It’s a really important message as each of us does of the work of keeping (or re-gaining) our Sovereign Center, and continuing to add our big and small magic, our own contributions (small and large) to the cause of wellbeing, Agape (Perdita’s Gifts!), and a restoration of joy and Wisdom for all beings.
Thanks to Laura for reblogging this (I’d missed this post, so was glad for the reblog!), and to The Druid’s Garden for the initial musing.
Here’s to the great importance of a wealth of (seemingly) small contributions.
Big Love and Holy-Season Blessings,
From Laura Bruno’s reblog of “Making a Difference:”
“I’ve been meaning to reblog this because of the encouraging message, especially as so many people create New Year’s Resolutions. I hear from a lot of clients who fear they “can never do enough to change ___, so why bother?”
Here’s why: because every little thing adds up, and one success inspires and fuels another one. We never know our full ripple effect, but we can and do create ripples wherever we go. As we finish out 2015, please give yourself credit for the things you’ve done, assess those you’ve left undone, and then feel your way into 2016 and beyond. What little step keeps nagging at you to take it? What deep soul longings keep nudging you to pay attention?
For the moment, forget the desired end, just focus on finding the next foothold and planting your step. YOU are part of the cycle of life! Whenever you choose to foster life — in whatever ways, small or big — you reaffirm the Great Cosmic Dance of Life. Twist, turn, leap or spin: just MOVE and see what happens.”
And The Druid’s Garden original “Making a Difference” article ….
I had a long conversation with an older close relative of mine over the holidays. He had overheard my sister, brother-in-law, and I talking about herbalism, permaculture, cultural shifts. This conversation was framed in the context of the recent Paris climate talks where it appears that world leaders agreed not to do anything for 15 years and in some future time, stave off too much of a temperature rise. After listening to us for a time, my relative indicated that anything that we would do would make “little to no difference” and that when we were his age (he’s in his late 60’s), we’d look back on our lives and regret not being able to do much; we’d certainly regret not being able to hope we had hoped to accomplish. The fact that we had “little money or resources” made this a certainty. He thought he was doing us a…

“The hope of the world lies in the restoration of the ancient magic that is part of your lineage.” ~ Steve Nelson
Yes, yes, yes!
So much of what we’re doing is re-discovering the magic of place, of Life, of our own beings, and the magic in all that’s around us.
The magic that nearly gets snuffed out of us early on. The magic that has been ignored by a perceptual worldview that ‘everything else’ is just inert ‘stuff’ that’s for our perpetual consumption.
To me, the magic is the Holy Divine … or at least the Holy Divine’s way of speaking to, playing with, guiding and Big Loving us!
Thanks to my friend Molly Hall for sharing Jon’s post with me, and thanks to Jon for writing it … particularly the bit about the “inoculation of reality aimed at suppressing magic.”
And so we remember it …

In the human psyche, from the moment a newborn baby emerges into the light of day, he/she has a desire for magic.
We are told this is an early fetish that fades away as the experience of the world sets in. As maturity evolves. As practical reality is better understood.
In most areas of psychology, sensible adjustment to practical reality is a great prize to be won by the patient. It marks the passage from child to adult. It is hailed as a therapeutic triumph.
In truth, the desire for magic never goes away, and…
