“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”~ Joseph Campbell, Mythologist and Author
In reflection on this insight from Joseph Campbell, Jim Sher of The Sher Institute of Astrology & Metaphysics says,
” … think of this. He is equating simply being who you are with the sense of it being a privilege. Being who you are is much more than merely existing. It is something one must work for, even fight for amidst all the myriad of temptations we all have to fall into inauthentic being, by copying, imitating, and following the herd. It is what he means when he urges us all to follow one’s bliss. Campbell has the Sun, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter in Aries and represents the most noble qualities of this sign. I hope you will ‘feel’ his words in such a way as to be taken beyond the limits of ‘ego’ to the heights of pure potential.“**

Aries is ruled by Mars — raw Life-force that can be channeled for good or for ill (the worthy cause, or just bustin’ stuff up! Read this Sophia’s Children post for more on Mars and the necessity of a worthy quest.)
With the Aries New Moon coming right up, it’s as fine a time as any to quest (and be receptive for) fresh insights on being who you are, and expressing that precious Life-force in support of the values and worthy causes that really stir your heart and soul.
Big Love,

For weeks I keep hearing the phrase “Dree your wyrd” from Terry Pratchett’s Nac Mac Feegle. That translates to something like face your fate or live your fate, but it’s another way of saying be who you are. 🙂

Indeed, “Dree your wyrd” … :). One of my astro/symbolism mentors quoted plenty of Terry Pratchett, including this saying. Love it! Or at least, I appreciate the possibilities of it.
Various translations (including ‘endure your fate’), or that snippet of dialogue from the film Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day-Lewis saying “You stay alive, no matter what occurs … I will find you!”). Continue to BE. We can tweak that anew … embrace, meet, make the most of … other ideas I’m sure! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Laura, and adding the “Dree your Wyrd” connection! xoxo (BE, and BE it well! 🙂 )
