Happy Imbolc, and Candlemas (read more about this ancient seasonal festival in my recent Sophia’s Children musing on it)!

(And Happy Lughnasadh to friends where it’s Summer!)

How have you experienced these last few weeks, with the Full Moon/Super Moon Eclipse (and other Energies of Now and stirrings around us)?

Imbolc: Magic, Re-Enchantment, and the Seeds of Spring

The Imbolc ‘midpoint’ is today, February 3rd, and the seasonal festival started on February 1st and 2nds.

If you feel inspired to align with this seasonal portal, the Candlemas Hora begins February 3rd and unfolds through the 18th (about 15 days).

Similarly, it’s the feast day of Saint Brigid (or Bhrìghde), too, and as I mentioned in the previous post, the Feast of Bhrìghde, Lá Fhéile Bríde, goes from January 31, 2018 through February 11, 2018.

A Deep, Rich Well For Creative Inspiration & Fresh Perspective

So we see that there’s a deeper, richer tradition for this early to mid-February time-frame that allows us to sink our roots and our attention and draw guidance, inspiration, and nourishment from this deep and ancient well.

If the January calendar ‘new year’ came and went a bit too quickly, or was mired in ‘busyness’ or preoccupation and worry, this is the perfect opportunity to Begin Anew and draw some inspiration and clarity to guide, anchor, and motivate us for the coming months and year.

For now, here’s some lovely inspiration and a good reminder (ala George Bailey in the old and classic film, It’s a Wonderful Life) about the good that you’ve (we’ve) done:

“You have done more good than you know, for the impact of your life is not measured by what can be seen, but by what has passed almost unnoticed, freely given, quietly given, the countless acts of compassion you created, effortless, instinctive, offered in kindness, sustained in humor, thinking of others, of their needs, their longing, flowing out of your heart as simple as sunshine, a life of grace lived with intention, healing.”

“You have been a source of hope in ways you cannot imagine. You have helped others and never even realized it. You are an answer to more prayers than you will ever hear. Have you made mistakes along the way? Yes, but consider the other truth: where you have walked, love has followed.”

~ Steven Charleston (Choctaw, Episcopalian Bishop)
