“We cannot live in a world that is not our own, in a world that is interpreted for us by others.
An interpreted world is not home. Part of the terror is to take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light.”
~ Hildegard von Bingen, Benedictine Abbess, Writer, Musician, Mystic, Doctor of the Church … & so much more (1098 – 1179)
How to “take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light”?
Read on for this inspiration on coming home to the truth of our being (St. Hildegard makes an appearance in this musing, & you’ll find links to more inspiration, too) …

Now that’s just weird. I read an article about Hildegard in a magazine yesterday. Love the quote and the image. Cheers!

… and here a musing … from my partially “own world” …
Also … what is at the root of … “our own listening” … “to see our own light” …
… is it not … awareness
… and when awareness … shines “our own light” … on it~”self” … then we can become more “self”~aware
so it may be not the literal light what is meant here, as also in the pitch dark, we can be aware of sounds and smell, or touch or taste and feelings and thoughts … etc.
… it may be more a pointer, like a finger pointing to the moon … is not the moon it~”self”
