“Tyranny cuts off the singer’s head
but the voice from the bottom of the well
returns to the secret springs of the Earth
and rises out of nowhere through the
mouths of the people.”
~ Pablo Neruda, trans. by Alistair Reid
In some indigenous traditions, our truest essence and purpose is called our Song, one that only we can sing, or give expression to. One that only we can be.
The journey then is to reclaim and sing this original Song of ours so it becomes part of a growing symphony of Life, on behalf of Life.
Neruda’s words are exquisite as ever.
May we hear the voice of our Song from the bottom of the well. May the gathering symphony rise like a Phoenix from the Springs of the Earth and flow through us in the cause of Life.
