Ever wonder just what you can do, contribute, in the face of what often seems overwhelming odds, too much tragedy and suffering, and powerful pot-stirrers who seem to jones on and profit from the mess?

I know I’ve mused and reflected on that, on (much) more than one occasion, when the world’s ills (and the Ill-Makers and fear-stirrers) seem far too many and more than a little bit overwhelming.

(That’s usually when I know it’s time to return to center, call my energy back home, and gain some fresh insight and inspiration.)

Just now, there’s a particular astro-energetic element and theme that’s rising into greater awareness in the Cosmic Symphony (a.k.a. Energies of Now … and Soon).

It has me remembering and thinking anew about those of us who, in our unique ways, have a role of thresholder, change doulas, boundary keepers, and horizon-edge seeders.

More on that astro-dynamic soon. For now … the theme itself.

The Japanese Novelist Haruki Murakami was (and is) also haunted by the question I shared earlier — just what could he do in the face of tumultuous times and other people’s suffering?

Murakimi’s response was featured in Journalist Ephrat Livni Livni’s Quartzy article (as well as The New Yorker magazine; Livni includes the link).

Here’s the gist: Responding creatively, in the way that he could.

“Responding creatively to tragedy emphasizes what’s beautiful about humanity and is its own kind of activism.”

“In other words, you find a way to help people that’s in keeping with the kind of person you already are. That might involve making art, writing novels, pursuing knowledge, or teaching. You pour yourself into those endeavors, knowing that one way to heal the world is to be in it and offer your gifts.”

(Murakami determined that his best offering was to do what he did: write stories that others related to and were moved by.)

Here’s another beautiful and experience-sourced insight that many of us who’ve weathered perfect life-storms (or a series of them) will recognize well:

As any of us Storm Walkers know, those things that challenge and change us to our core also gather true, experience-based gnosis — lived wisdom — and related stories to share with others.

Experience-wisdom stories that help, and that heal; that illuminate and inspire.

Each of us has a unique sense of motivation and passion, and a correlating skill and gift set, honed by our own experience and that Perfect Storm Wisdom, from which we can draw for our own creative response offering.

(And we can, and likely do that in various ways, some very subtle, over the course of any given day or week.)
