“So this is how the healers who are attempting to be born are treated in this culture.”

“What a loss that a person who is finally being aligned with a power from the other world is just being wasted.”

~ Dagara Elder, Malidoma Patrice Somé

Though important for all empath-sensitives — so read on —  this is a particularly important perspective now for those of us born in the mid-Sixties, who have the unique cocktail of Chiron in Pisces, Neptune in Scorpio, North Node in Cancer, and the Uranus-Pluto-in-Virgo conjunction.

A sub-set of this group also has Jupiter in Pisces opposite Uranus-Pluto, which adds to the rebel-transformer, unity-consciousness, empath-sensitive nature.

A similarly sensitive sub-group are those among the early Millennials born in 1989 +/- with the stellium in Capricorn, Jupiter and Chiron in Cancer, and Pluto in Scorpio.

This group of pre-Millennials has more in common with their Gen-X core-group older brothers and sisters than with the rest of their Millennial cohort, with the heightened sensitivity and the Capricorn trait of being older than and having innate wisdom beyond their ‘calendar years’ age.

Others with a fair amount of ‘Water in the chart’ would align with this experience as well.

These are a potentially super-sensitive, visionary, and ‘born-healer’ (or mystic, or shaman) combination, with enough Earth-element self-facets to reflect a purpose of bringing that sensitivity, vision, healing perception to transform (or provide remedy to the ills of) the structures and organizations of these times.

The mid-Sixties-born Generation-Xers have recently or are now moving through the life-milestone and ‘wake-up call’ of the Chiron Return.

Some Chiron in Pisces natives are in the pivotal years leading up to their Chiron in Pisces Return, when lots of patterns are revealed and cycles of experience integrated (and deepened).

This particular mid-Sixties-born group was called the ‘slackers’, and has been called ‘the Lost Generation’ and the Invisible Generation — though it’s the original core group of the larger group deemed by demographers and marketers to be Generation X (including the 70s-born Uranus-Pluto in Libra group, which is its own soul-group that fertility and marketing demographics ignore by lumping it into Gen-X).

To me — part of this very group and having just passed beyond an extended Chiron Return — those of us born in the mid-Sixties with Chiron in Pisces and the ‘Magi’ combo of Uranus-Pluto-conjunct-in-Virgo and Neptune in Scorpio, are not so much lost as we were, have been, or are still sleeping, or even more accurate perhaps, incubatingintegrating the life experience and Chirotic ‘wounds’ that are transmuted into wisdom and medicine through and after the Chiron Return.

The Chiron Return is one of the thresholds where the ‘wound’ is transmuted from ‘poison’ into ‘medicine’ and offered in a spirit of service and healing in whatever way is appropriate to an individual’s purpose and vocation. That’s the invitation, anyway.

For Chiron in Pisces, the ‘original wound’ is often some kind of a separation from Spirit, disrespected and violated boundaries, being unseeninvisible, being ‘Narcissist Supply’, and/or the denigration of the inherent gifts of vision, empathic sensitivity, and an innate capacity for working with energy.

For the pre/early Millennial (1989 +/1), the Chiron in Cancer ‘original wound’ is often related to a lack of nurturing and often some sort of absence of the feminine and/or the mother, and perhaps a rejection of their own tender heartedness (and other empathic-sensitivity, given the rest of the Water in their blueprints).

At the Chiron Return, which the 60’s born Chiron in Pisces peeps have been experiencing (or did, or will soon), the journeyer has the potential to go through the doorway from youth and experience-gatherer to experienced teacher and wise-woman, wise-man, or elder.

That said, these sorts of experiences described by Malidoma Patrice Somé in the following excerpt and the full article, are often experienced by the more empathically sensitive among us throughout our lives — those who are physiologically wired to be more aware of, and sensitive to, subtle energies, other’s thoughts and emotions (stated or unstated, and so on.

He says the spiritual awakenings for these people is about “a very ancient ancestral energy that has been placed in stasis, that finally is coming out in the person. … “most of the fabric of this country is made up of the energy of the machine, and the result of that is the disconnection and the severing of the past. You can run from the past, but you can’t hide from it.”

You know who you are, and yes, there’s a physiological as well as an astrological reason and purpose that that sensitivity.

But some of these empathic-sensitives ‘click on’ or go through the inevitable periods of more intense activation, heightened sensitivity, and don’t have guides, mentors, spiritual foundation, or some sort of innate resilience that sees them through these Dark Night initiations … the part of the journey that meanders through the Valley of the Shadow, of Death.

Instead, some on that path are deemed mentally ill and pharma’d (which may be appropriate treatment for some, but very unhelpful for those in spiritual awakening, per the spiritual emergency work of Dr. Stanislav Grof and others).

Journeys, Returns & Sensitivity Perspectives

So whether you’re being awakened to a new level of integration, wisdom, and perhaps service at the midlife milestone of the Chiron in Pisces Return, or you’re an empath-sensitive of any age, you might appreciate what Dr. Somé shares in the excerpt below and the full article about how an analytical, bully-normalizing culture deals with what those from another perspective or culture see as Divine gifts in a state of awakening or heightening.

In the meanwhile, here’s what Dr. Somé shares about his first visit to see a friend in a mental hospital.

“The Western culture has consistently ignored the birth of the healer,” states Dr. Somé.

“Consequently, there will be a tendency from the other world to keep trying as many people as possible in an attempt to get somebody’s attention. They have to try harder.”

“The spirits are drawn to people whose senses have not been anesthetized. The sensitivity is pretty much read as an invitation to come in,” he notes.”

“Those who develop so-called mental disorders are those who are sensitive, which is viewed in Western culture as oversensitivity.  Indigenous cultures don’t see it that way and, as a result, sensitive people don’t experience themselves as overly sensitive.”

“In the West, “it is the overload of the culture they’re in that is just wrecking them,” observes Dr. Somé.

“The frenetic pace, the bombardment of the senses, and the violent energy that characterize Western culture can overwhelm sensitive people.”

More soon for my fellow waking giants of the Chiron in Pisces and mid-Sixties-born, and all of you who feel out-of-alignment with a less-humane, tech-sociopathic, Earth-and-heart-disconnected time and culture. It’s those very latter traits and realities that make your gifts, your innate sensitivity and insight, and your unique wisdom and medicine, more necessary than ever.

Update: Lots of synchronicity around this post. It’s been on my list for quite awhile, and I’d seen the article featuring Malidoma Patrice SoméWhat a Shaman Sees in a Mental Hospital.

As I was drafting this, a musing from Pamela Carruthers of Healing Stars came in, sharing a bittersweet story about her own mother’s Chiron Return and also referencing Dr. Somé‘s article! So I know the timing must be just right. Thank you, Pam!

Happy Journeying.

Big Love,
