“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant—there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing—and keeping the unknown always beyond you.”

“You and I don’t know whether our vision is clear in relation to our time or not—No matter what failure or success we may have—we will not know—But we can keep our integrity—according to our own sense of balance with the world and that creates our form.” ~ Georgia O’Keeffe (the Sherwood-Anderson Letters)

“Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.” ~ in Georgia O’Keeffe

“There was no one around to look at what I was doing – no one interested – no one to say anything about it one way or another. I was alone and singularly free, working into my own unknown – no one to satisfy except myself.” ~ in 1915, when Ms. O’Keeffe was working in charcoal (before the color paintings she became most known for).

“I decided to start anew – to strip away what I’d been taught,” she said.

“I feel there is something unexplored about woman that only a woman can explore.”

May we have the grace and courage to strip away what we’ve been taught, and explore the unknown to make it known.

Big Love,

Jamie
