Here’s a theme that’s been growing in strength: the importance of reclaiming the power of our focus from the myriad bling-bling distractions, reclaiming the power of our dreaming, so that we can direct more and more of it towards desirable stories that we’d wish to see more prominent in the world.

Because we are in this world, we’re surrounded by and thus are affected by a mish-mash of forces competing for our attention (and attention means energy), and not all of them have our wellbeing in mind.

In some cases, these forces are using subliminal or ‘under the radar’ tactics to co-opt our attention and the energy that flows with it (like neuromarketing, which I’ve written about before), which is clever and crafty, indeed.

So the gist isn’t to pretend we’re immune to these forces or influences, or to pretend they don’t exist (which is delusional), but to increase our awareness and our mastery in recognizing and working with our focus, attention, and where we invest our energy … at least a majority of the time. In that way, we strengthen those ‘muscles’ but also ripple that awareness out into the collective ‘field’.

Believe you me, I know as well as any just how challenging this can be, particularly for empathic-sensitives.  I, too, have experienced again and again the process of realizing my attention and energy have been drawn to less desirable stories, or to the clever antics of psychic-energetic “vampires,” and thus need to be reclaimed and redirected.

But each time I’ve done this, I strengthen the muscle (so to speak!) and learned more about how these energies (and my own attention) work.

I recently wrote about choosing A Season of Vision-Tending as one way to help focus, reclaim, and more intentionally direct our focus and energy.

And here’s a message from one of my teachers and mentors, Alberto Villoldo of The Four Winds, reminding us that it’s A Time for Courageous Dreaming.

” All around us there is fraud, corruption, abuse, war, famine, and disease. Widespread greed is ever present.

It’s ugly out there today.

The daily news presents us with a world we do not want to embrace. Nor should we.

It is precisely during this time of great change that we have the opportunity to make a difference in the world – and to improve the quality of human consciousness.

The task of the modern shaman is to create beauty where others only see ugliness; to have the courage to entertain the possible and not collude with the probable.

This is the time to bring healing and a new dream into the world. We must dream with our eyes open, recognizing our power to co-create our world and never allowing our courage to involuntarily ebb away, causing our dreams to become our nightmares.

Let us shed the negative stories so they do not become our daily reality. And let’s come up with a better, grander story founded on peace, commission, and understanding.

As we practice beauty with everyone we encounter, we opt out of suffering, and create a sacred space where the gifts are apparent and available. Co-creators of our reality, victims no more.

Our mission is to transform the world, one healer at a time … If you’re already a healer, bring it forth into your community. With urgency, with passion.”

And if you’ve been reading here at Sophia’s Children for awhile, you’ll know there’s plenty of inspiration and lots of ideas from my own journey and others who’ve shared with me. (And if you’re new here, welcome!)

If you’re feeling called to dream more courageously, revisit the recent post, A Season of Vision-Tending, or send me an email – conversation with a believing mirror and kindred spirit is always enlivening and encouraging!

Big Love,
